Fears for Sinead O’Connor missing more than a day in States
Sinead O’Connor has gone missing in Chicago while she was on a bicycle ride.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer has been missing for more than a day and now police in a suburb of the windy city are searching for her.
Wilmette Police said: “are seeking to check the well-being” of the 49-year-old – but they did not go in to further detail.
Police were called after Ms O’Connor “left the Wilmette area” for a bicycle ride at 0600 local time on Sunday, and had not returned after more than a day.
U.S website TMZ reports that police have sent out an alert for the singer, classifying her as ‘missing suicidal’.
O’Connor was last seen on a Raleigh motorised bicycle with a pink basket. She was wearing a black parka, black leather pants and a sweatshirt with “Ireland” on the back.
O’Connor, who suffers bi-polar and had in recent months threatened ending her life, became a world-wide star in 1990 with the worldwide hit Nothing Compares 2 U, a song written by Prince.
She recorded 10 solo albums but has also been the focus of controversial headlines over the years.
In 1992, she tore apart a photo of Pope Jon Paul II during a live TV broadcast.
She was in the news again last week after alleging U.S comedian Arsenio Hall had supplied drugs to Prince, who died last month.
The former TV host denied the allegation and said he was suing the Dublin-born, mother.
