Plans being made to suspend water charges for 9 months

Water charges could be suspended for nine months but it appears the hope from many that the utility would be dismantled is growing less likely.

Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil are said to have made progress on Irish Water with talks to resume today.

It is planned that Irish Water will be maintained while the finacing of the utility will be looked at by an independent grou and then submitted to the Dail with recommendations to be voted on.

Water charges could be delayed for over nine months but nothing has been agreed on yet.
